District 14 gives back to the Niagara community

Aug 20, 2021

District 14’s primary goal is to enhance the lives of the members and all seniors in the area. To do so, the district has targeted the following groups and created enduring relationships with them:

  • Habitat for Humanity: We donate proceeds from the generous contributions of our members who attend the luncheon meetings, and support their building projects with donations and volunteers.
  • CARP: We collaborate with them to provide workshops on political issues, senior isolation, and abuse and frauds and scams.
  • Friends of Fort Erie Public Library: We supported their application for a grant through the Project Service to Others, helping them create a home delivery service of large-print books to seniors, and refresh the children’s books at a local rink-side library.
  • Niagara Health Coalition: We attend board meetings and monitor the policies that affect long-term care facilities and health care services for seniors.
  • Niagara Falls Senior Services: We’ve attended training sessions on elder abuse and delivered these awareness workshops to groups in the District 14 area. We’ve also made several donations to the food banks, so that seniors will receive quality food deliveries.
